In the few years I've been running a version of this blog firstly on a friend's site that is no more (and the friendship drifted off to the void for now) and more recently here I've often pondered the reality versus my preconceptions of blog life.
I used to wonder why people look yet not comment even when I knew from other sources that they held opinions regarding what I wrote. It used to annoy me a little now I am adjusted to the situation & the writing becomes an impersonal letter to the void, therapy & yes at time self indulgence.
The subject matter and the tiny nature of the blog will never generate significant interest or response but increasingly it serves the purpose I now perceive which is one of expression of thoughts & opinions with little knowledge or concern for the anonymous audience.
It has become a secure place, I have no time for the exposure & frail insecurity of social media sites & those who are on a mission to befriend the universe yet truly know nobody.
As with many aspects of my life I am secure in my own company & prefer to conserve the energy & passion for life real connections demand & reward you with rather than fritter it away on superficial & unfulfilling situations.
I see the activity on busy blog sites & see them as part of the social media scene. Good thoughts and opinions are too often lost amongst the trite crap.
While blogging can be seen as the domain of the modern letter writer we all need to remember the key difference. Letters are personal & typically rarely widely known. Blogging however is part of the electronic footprint that will follow all of us for eternity. Once posted anything we distribute electronically is out there forever and out of our control.
So, I enjoy my intermittent attempts at sharing the thoughts that run around my head. For those who follow from time to time thank you, to the lurkers - "hi, I hope you might come back again"
Blog regarding the sex industry experiences & opinions of a retired punter with attitude, respect for the escorts & sex workers he has met and opinions on most things especially the New Zealand sex industry.

ReplyDeleteIt's the reality, you hardly ever see comments even on some very popular international blog sites that receive plenty of traffic. Keep going, even I enjoy reading your blogs.
